If you’re not familiar with the business podcast Entrepreneur on Fire, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!
Kidding, but only a little bit. Now in its fifth year and celebrated as one of the top small business and entrepreneurship-based podcasts in the country, host John Lee Dumas has interviewed leaders from Tony Robbins and Barbara Corcoran to Tim Ferriss and Gary Vaynerchuk and his episodes have been downloaded millions of times. Needless to say, when I found out that “JLD” wanted to interview me, well, let’s just say a happy dance was done in my home office.

What I love about John’s interviews are his questions. It’s one thing to talk about winning, but John takes it beyond that and invites guests to speak about “all the things” when it comes to entrepreneurship: It’s one thing to talk about winning, but when John talks about setbacks – that’s where the real learning and connecting opportunities come in!
Free 5-Second Life Lesson: At our core, we humans are all the same, and when we share the ups and downs of our lives authentically and honestly we all win, learn and connect! Preparing for the interview was like small business therapy, but in the end, re-telling those stories – out loud – reminded me of the lessons I learned from them, and the behaviors I want to avoid so that I don’t have to experience some of those failures again.
ALL THAT ASIDE, in this high energy, fast-and-efficient-so-don’t-skip-it interview, I tell the story of my journey from high school teacher in the Midwest to entrepreneur on the East Coast, I share a recent a-ha moment we can all learn from – I even share a list of the resources that help me create a work-life I love.
OVER TO YOU…
Let’s keep this honest conversation about business going: Have you had any business setbacks that turned into powerful lessons? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
